KADD is the the Kiribati Aotearoa Diapora Directorate in short. It is a registered youth-led charitable trust conceived in 2018 and incorporated in New Zealand on the 7th day of November 2019 under the Charitable Trusts Act of 1957.

The logo

The logo above, is an official representation of KADD that tells a migration story of the Kiribati frigate flying towards the Kiwi’s habitat where it will learn to adapt to New Zealand culture. Both birds overlap each other halfway as they learn about each other’s cultural differences yet are rooted strongly in their own unique cultures through the woven mat. This unity of both birds inside the circle symbolizes our KADD vision which is to integrate I-Kiribati citizens, residents and the diaspora communities to contribute positively to Aotearoa, New Zealand.

The abbreviations in the logo represents in short, the name of the organization. The national birds (the Kiribati frigate and the New Zealand kiwi) are used to represent their country letter followed by their country colours (red for Kiribati and (not navy blue, black) for Aotearoa). The Diaspora letter style contrasts from the other to symbolize it’s meaning “to scatter.”  Have used the colour green to symbolize the life and environment of the diaspora. Gold is used for the Directorate letter symbolizing the ‘wealth of information’ which will be held in the KADD system.
